Frequently asked questions

Short answers. The docs go into detail.

General

What is Evil6?

An all-in-one Discord bot for moderation, security and community – an alternative to MEE6. Its focus is protecting servers from spam bots, hacked accounts and raids, and it brings everything else a community needs: leveling, tickets, giveaways, polls, backups and more. See all features.

Is Evil6 free?

Yes. Every feature is free for every server. The optional Backup Plus subscription only raises the backup slots per server from 2 to 10.

Which languages does Evil6 speak?

English and German. Every member gets replies in their own language – automatically from their Discord language or chosen with /language me. Public messages such as logs, level-ups and giveaways use the server language set with /language set (default: English). In the German Discord client the commands have German names, e.g. /sprache or /protokoll.

Does Evil6 have prefix commands like !ban?

No, Evil6 only uses slash commands. Type / in Discord to see them all, or browse the command reference.

Where can I get help?

Start with the docs or /help in Discord. Write to [email protected].

Setup & permissions

Which permissions does Evil6 need?

The invite link asks only for what the features use: view channels, send and manage messages, embed links, attach files, read message history, reactions, external emojis, manage channels, roles, threads and the server, kick, ban, timeout, view the audit log and connect to voice. The permissions page explains each one. Administrator is not required.

Evil6 says it can’t manage a role or member. Why?

Discord only lets a bot manage roles and members that are below its own highest role. Open Server Settings → Roles and drag the Evil6 role above the roles it should assign or the members it should moderate.

Will the Gulag ban my moderators?

Only members with the “Manage Server” permission are exempt. Everyone else – including moderators without that permission – is punished when they write in the Gulag, so tell your team. The punishment (ban, softban or kick) is chosen in /gulag setup.

What happens during a raid?

When more members join within the time window than you allow (default: 10 in 10 seconds), Evil6 kicks, bans or softbans the joining accounts – or locks all text channels for @everyone if you chose lockdown. End a lockdown with /antiraid lockdown disable. Note: in lockdown mode, accounts that are too young are not removed – the minimum account age only acts with kick, ban or softban.

Can I configure Evil6 in the browser?

Yes, in the dashboard. Log in with Discord and you’ll see every server where you have “Manage Server”. Some areas are still being built – the dashboard docs list what is available and which slash command to use meanwhile.

Data & privacy

Which data does Evil6 store?

Only what the features need: server settings; Discord ID, name and language of users; XP; warnings and the mod log; tickets; giveaway entries; poll votes; reminders; backups (structure only, no messages) and log events. For the blacklist check, IDs of users and servers Evil6 has seen are stored across the operator’s bots. All details: privacy policy.

How long are logs kept?

Log events in Evil6’s database are deleted automatically after 30 days. Messages Evil6 posts into your log channels stay in Discord until you delete them.

How do I get my data deleted?

Write to [email protected] with your Discord user ID or server ID. Server owners can request deletion of all data of their server.

Removal & Premium

How do I remove the bot?

Open Server Settings → Integrations → Evil6 → Remove, or kick Evil6 from the member list. The Gulag channel and log channels stay – delete them yourself if you no longer need them (or run /gulag disable first and choose to delete the channel).

What is Backup Plus?

An optional Discord server subscription that raises the backup slots of one server from 2 to 10. Everything else is free. More about Backup Plus.

Why can’t I use Evil6?

Users and servers blocked for abuse can’t use Evil6 or the operator’s other bots. If you think this is a mistake, write to [email protected].

Ready to clean up your server?

Invite Evil6, run /gulag setup and /logging setup – and the next spam wave ends before your community sees it.
